LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003 mainly used for professional networking. As of May 2009, it had more than 40 million registered users, spanning 170 industries.

Reid Hoffman (Executive Chairman and co-Founder of LinkedIn) and Andreas Weigend have a great conversation covering the following topics: People are participants / interaction, psychological ecosystem, the idea that everybody is a small business, lead generation (of someone who looks ‘me’ up) vs. traditional advertising, looking at people in common: help with decision making, using the LinkedIn network as a lens, social construction, the notion of asymmetry, and the future of jobs namely “free agent nation.”

Reid Hoffman (born August 5, 1967) is an American entrepreneur and angel investor. Hoffman is best known as the founder of LinkedIn, a social network used primarily for business connections and job searching.

Andreas Weigend is a former Chief Scientist at Amazon.com and the author of over 100 scientific papers on the application of machine learning techniques to finance and business problems.

Sean Ammirati embodies extraordinary. From his humble beginnings as a FoxPro programmer for hire in 8th grade (his client would send a car for him) to a resume that reads like a Whos Who of A-list employers, Sean has been driving to make a difference. Once an aspiring programmer, Sean has found his niche as a new technology evangelist. Currently, this manifests itself in his passion for helping publishers to revitalize their online content with mSpokes adaptive personalization solutions.

Walker Fenton began his career in the Internet working for Netcom Online Communications, the first nationwide dial-up Internet Service Provider, and has since been involved with several start-ups including dbDoctor, Inc. and Xaffire, Inc. Walker received a BA in Economics from Colby College and has an MBA from Regis University.

Andreas Weigend is a former Chief Scientist at Amazon.com and the author of over 100 scientific papers on the application of machine learning techniques to finance and business problems.

David Riemer is one of the leading marketers in the Internet industry. He spent the last decade developing and bringing great products to web users worldwide. Following his career as an ad agency President, David brought his strategic and marketing leadership to two start-ups and an internet titan, Yahoo!. In various roles over six years at Yahoo!, David led the marketing teams on both the BtoB and Consumer sides of the business where he managed marketing for virtually all of Yahoo!’s products across their customer base of 500M users.

David is now advising emerging Internet and consumer technology companies. He specializes in helping businesses clarify their product strategy, go-to-market approach and business model. David also serves as Executive-in-Residence at Haas Business School (Berkeley). David earned his undergraduate degree from Brown University, and an MBA from Columbia University. He lives in Berkeley, California with his wife and two (very web savvy) teenage children who help keep him honest.
